Municipal raid in city hookah bars
Good Morning Friends. Today is Tuesday, September 09, 2008. My day start with morning walk at 5-30am. I read this news which makes me happy. Our Municipal Corportaion raided hookah bars in the city. Now a days there is growing trend in the addiction of teenagers to hookah bars. AMC’s this step is really highly appreciated. Such steps are require for the betterment of society and culture.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is going hammer and tongs at illegal hookah bars in the city. After witnessing a growing addiction of teenagers to hookah bars and complaints from parents and different quarters, AMC carried out a massive crackdown on these joints which were run under the garb of restaurants.
Health Committee Chairman Praful Raval said, “We have been regularly receiving complaints from parents about the growing menace of hookah bars in the city. These bars are unhealthy for youngsters and pose serious health problems. It also adds to the nuisance value as certain anti-social elements visit these hookah bars.”
“AMC has already sent the stuff seized from these bars to the municipal laboratory for testing. If needed we will also take the help of Forensic Science Laboratory for chemical analysis of the products used for serving in hookahs,” added Raval.
There are around 15-20 hookah bars in West and New West zones of AMC. The health department has started questioning the unhealthy, dingy, closed and smoke-filled rooms posing major health risks to children.
Hookah bars in Navrangpura, IIM road, Vastrapur, Prahaladnagar garden, Wide Angle and one near the Memnagar fire station were raided on Saturday evening. None of these joints had a proper health license from civic authority essential for running a food joint or restaurant.
A senior AMC official said, “All of these hookah bars were served notice on several occasions and also many have court cases pending against them.”
The municipal officials who conducted the raids on Saturday found that the filter in many of the hookahs was being shared by a group and that the filter was never changed in many of the hookah bars.
“We questioned the restaurant staff since the tumblers in which they serve water is also not properly cleaned. In hookah bars the same filter is used by hundreds. Apart from the harm caused by smoking tobacco, the saliva deposits on these unclean filters pose a serious health hazard for youngsters,” said a senior health official.
Last year too, Ahmedabad Police raided three hookah bars in Panjrapol and Satellite areas of the city. This too was after there was much uproar on minors being allowed to smoke at these bars. At that time, police officials had assured of initiating proper action against these errant hookah joints.
However, soon the drive fizzled out and the hookah bars came back into business. On coordination between police and civic body on this issue, an AMC official said, “We will also ask police authorities to book owners for serving tobacco to minors.”

Its 3-45 pm, Thursday, I am going to Ambaji with all my family. Ambaji is holi place and it’s around 180 km aways from my city Ahmedabad. I am going to back tomorrow evening. Ambaji’s details are as under. Few pictures of Ambaji Temple. Details about Ambaji temple i found from Ambaji Temple's website.

Shri Arasuri Ambaji Mata Temple is the origin of the Supreme Cosmic Power of the Universe. This Temple is one of the 51 Fifty One famous Ancient Shakti Piths Tirth of Shri Adhya Shakti Devi.
The Great Miracle of this Holy Place is that there is no idol or picture in the Nij Mandir of Shri Arasuri Mata Ambaji, but a simple cave like Gokh in the inner wall, in which A Gold Plated Holy Shakti Visa Shree Yantra, having kurma back convex shape and 51 Bij letters therein, like that of the original Yantras of Nepal and Ujjain Shakti Piths, is ritually installed in such a way it can be visible for devotion, but it was never photographed in past nor in future.
The Holy Gokh of Mata Ambaji with Shakti Yantra is so decorated by the priests Pujari of the Holy temple tirth place that one can imagine it as an idol of Mata Ambica in one of her incarnations.
The Main Temple of Ambaji with a big Mandap has a Holy Gokh of Mataji in the Garbhgruh, in front of huge Chachar Chowk carpeted with beautiful marbles near Yagnashala
All the ritual worships of Ambaji is performed in Chachar Chowk The Temple has a glorious Suvarn Kalash Shikhar, shining at 103 feet height on the top of the temple, weighing more than 3 tones as a whole. It is specially made from a single marble, brought out from the mines of Arasur Hill and has been plated with pure gold, attached with The Holy Long Long Flag of Ambaji & Trishul.
The newly constructed Main Temple Nij Mandir is worth seeing all time for its holy significance in Shaki Sampraday - the worship of the supreme power of cosmic energy and is also for its wonderful carvings on artistic renovation displaying an Indian traditional culture.

Ahm: Guard of honour for Lord Ganesh
Good Morning friends, Thursday, September 04, 2008. My day starts with Prayer at dadaji’s hosue. I like to read following news. You all also read it.
Continuing an over seven-decade-old tradition, Lord Ganesh was given a guard of honour by the state police here, to mark the beginning of the ten-day Ganesha festival.
"After the state guard of honour Wednesday, the Idol of Lord Ganesh was set up at the mandap (raised platform)", Mahant Ganeshdas of Sidhi Vinayak temple in Mehsana said.
"Cultural programmes would be held for the next nine days," Mahant Ganeshdas added.
The tradition of giving state honour to Lord Ganesh has been prevalent in the Maratha town of Mehsana for the last 75 years.
According to District Superintendent of Police Raju Bhargava, who was present at the Sidhi Vinayak temple, "It was during the Gaekwad regime that Mehsana town celebrated the Ganesha utsav (festival) with guard of honour to Lord Ganesh. Since Mehsana fell in the domain of Gaekwad of Vadodara, worshipping Lord Ganesha gained momentum here."
"Agashe Sahib was the first Subba in 1933 who began paying guard of honour on behalf of the Gaekwad state," Satish Patwardhan, a devotee of Lord Ganesh said.
"After guard of honour the procession of the lord would be taken out in the city and the same tradition still continues," Patwardhan added.

PRATIKRAMAN -Audit of Karma-1
There are different types of auditing in business world, similarly in spiritual world; there are different types of Pratikraman. I have tried to make a comparative study of both to portrait the importance of Pratikraman in our life.
ON THE BASIS OF TIME
FINAL AUDIT- audit conducted at the end of financial year
In respect of Pratikraman, it is pratikraman of Savatsari. In spiritual world, Financial Year is counted from Savatsari to Savatsari.
INTERIM AUDIT- audit conducted inbetween the two financial years. It can be compare with the CHATURMASIK pratikraman.
ON THE BASIS OF CONTINNUITY
CONTINUOUS/DETAILED AUDIT- it is audit where auditor is constantly engaged in checking a/c’s during the whole year.
It is nothing but the daily pratikraman that is conducted in morning & evening i.e. regular audit of deeds on daily basis.
COMPLETE AUDIT-Complete Audit is audit of each and every transaction entered in books of a/c’s with supporting vouchers, certificates, documents. It is done in a business where a/c’s have not been previously audited. It can be compare with pratikraman at the time of diksha when a person enters into the spiritual world leaving the worldly life. Also acceptance of mistake, if any, by monks and nuns before guru when any mistake has been committed that requires priyashit from guru. We can also say that it is Audit done at the last stage of life or at the time of “ Santhara”. The supporting, documents in this case is none other than the pure internal feeling of forgiveness, loyalty and the faith/ zeal to conduct the daily routine without any negligence (pramad) in future.
PARTIAL AUDIT- It is audit of selective records, documents or books, for a part or whole of the year.It is similar to the acceptance of faults & mistake occur in any specific vrat or tyag & taking prayschit for the same.
FROM THE SCOPE POINT OF VIEW
INTERNAL AUDIT- I.A. is done in an org. itself through its employees. The concept behind this audit is to prevent & detect frauds & errors & check the accuracy of financial records. In view of spirituality, it is the I.A. of one by oneself. A person himself does his critical examination & finds the lacuna occurring in the life. He rectifies it by doing Pratikraman & some time changing the habits or way of doing to make Financial Statement of his soul true & fair. It is most important audit as if person hides the faults & mistake to himself only then he is not doing the real judgment with his own spiritual goal though he becomes monk by his clothes.
EXTERNAL AUDIT- It is an audit done by a professional auditor, appointed in an org. He find out the mistake that has been committed by the company or any procedure adapted by the company that is not acc. To the law or that has been prescribed. We can say that it is same as if someone is indicating towards our way of doing that is not according to the prescribed way & laws. For Eg. Reading Bhaktamar in night or using mobile in Samayik. Professionals in this sense is our nuns, monks & laureates of the society
STATUTORY AUDIT- it is audit made compulsory by the GOVT. and every business coming under this clause is required to do such audit otherwise they have to pay heavy penalties. We can put the Pratikraman of Savatsari and chaturmasik in this category. These are considered to be important/compulsory in Jainism for every Jain if he wants to attain the purity of soul. Here Govt. is our Agam on the basis of whose teachings; jains try to exposed all their faults & wants to settle the accounts of mistake forever.
Therefore Pratikraman and auditing is one and the same. The only difference is that auditing is term used for checking of business records & books while term pratikraman is used for the auditing of transactions of our deeds & soul.
What we are finding today is people are very alert about the auditing of business but are forgetting or ignoring the pratikraman of their deeds. Just think, Is this justification with ourself? Why we are not equally alert for the true and fair view of karma statement as we are for financial statement of our business. If we become lethargic & try to ignore the audits of our deeds, we have to be paid heavy penalties for that. Penalties in business world can be paid in a life but for paying the penalties of karma, you may require hundreds of rebirths in various forms, you even don’t have imagined that .
So don’t waste a bit of time now & start auditing of your karma before it starts its recovery procedure to collect penalties. After comparing the Pratikraman with the Audit, now a flash of light can be put on the process of doing audit. Few major heads in which we can classify our self for audit are:
1. Thought process
2. External Behavior
3. Internal Behavior
4. The way of doing work
5. Environmental Condition
6. Family Atmosphere
7. Diff. in doing & thinking
“ Use the refinery of Pratikraman to refine the soul. Don’t keep the traces of mistakes on the sand of time that follows you beyond your life”

PRATIKRAMAN -Audit of Karma
Good Morning Friends, Wednesday, September 03, 2008. Today is holiday in the school due to Savatsari. Savatsari is day for Pratikraman. In Simple words Pratikraman is to say SORRY to all. In our day to day life we might have hurt someone, we might have felt negative feelings for someone, we might felt jealous on someone, today is day when we can say Michhami Dukadam to all and by saying that we are doing Pratikranma and saying sorry to all.I read one very good note on Pratikraman. I like to share this note with all of you. It is Audit of Karma.
AUDIT OF KARMA
Friends, When time came for finalizing the annual accounts & preparing the financial statement of our bussiness at the year ending, lots of labour, tricks & planning are applyed to convert the black into white or to minimize tax liability & to get rid away from the eyes of Government. We all are doing the same thing, aren't we? For what we are doing all this? Just to save the precious money.
But have you think for a while about the preciousness of this rare human life? We are doing audits of our accounts many times but how much we have audited our Karma transactions for white & bright future? Why we are running away from our own inner government? Have you try to answer these questions any time? I am just making the aware about the auditing of inner self i.e. our inner spiritual world.
Can you able to guess what is the Spiritual term of Auditing?
Let me disclose that. We all know it by the name of “PRATIKRAMAN”. Normally it is thought that Pratikraman is the practice of Jainism only. Pratikraman is not particularly related to Jainism. Infact it is part of our each and every activity. Even in business world, we use this concept. May you get surprised by this thought but it as true as money is needed for business. Without Pratikraman our business will get ruined.
Auditing and Pratikraman is one and the same thing. If money is called the life blood of business then audit is the refinery that refines that blood.
Acc. To Montgomery “auditing is a systematic examination of books & records of business or other organization in order to ascertain or verify’ & to report upon the facts regarding its financial operations & the results thereof.
In above context, I can define Pratikraman as below
“PRATIKRAMAN” is the CRITICAL ANALYTICAL PROCESS OF AUDITING OF ALL THE TRANSACTIONS CONDUCTED BY THE SOUL. It is one of the essential processes of Jainism in which pardon is asked for the past mistakes and tries to get free from the worldly attachments and bad and jealous feelings & thoughts. It is the way of refining the character & behavior to make it simple & good.
