India's farewell to a brave soldier Colonel Thomas
Colonel Jojan Thomas, was buried with full state honours at St John's church in Bangalore on Monday. Colonel Thomas died during an encounter with militants in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir last Friday.
Colonel Jojan Thomas, who was killed in an encounter with militants in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday (August 22), was buried with full state honours at St John's church in Bangalore on Monday (August 25). The body of the 43-year-old Colonel arrived here last night by an Indian Airlines flight from New Delhi, family sources said.
A native of Kerala, Col Jogan Joseph Thomas was commissioned on March 1986 from OTA, Chennai in 11 JAT regiment. Besides holding appointments as GSO-1 (Ops), 3 Corps and instructor FTM, ASC Centre and College Bangalore, he was also an experienced pilot. The Colonel was killed when he led a quick reaction team from 45 Rashtriya Rifles in the dense forest of Machhal Sector, near the Line of Control. His team shot down six militants. He is survived by wife Beena, daughter Meghana (18) who is training to be a pilot and son Philemon (11).
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday (August 25) offered floral tributes to Col Jojan Thomas who was among four military personnel killed in an encounter with terrorists at Kupwara last week. Yeddyurappa placed a wreath on the body. Ministers Shobha Karandlaje and Ramachandra Gowda accompanied the Chief Minister. Yeddyurappa also consoled the members of Thomas's family.
Being Indian Dhirendra Patel also offered his tribute to the Brave Soldier Colonel Thomas. I salute Colonel Thomas.

Is it true that one must die first to have the full honor?
WHAT A BRAVE MAN! He really must be honored for what he did.
We have to be proud of our soldiers because they are the one who really protecting the people.
