For heart’s sake, 800 cops to walk

Good morning friends. It was noted that there will be 800 cops to walk for heart’s sake. A hoping to have more participation not only to cops but also to many others. This walk may help many people to be alert for a heart disease. I’m sure that many are not conscious with it. Some says that they will not acquire such disease as they are thin. I admit that fat people may easily acquire a heart disease, but it doesn’t mean that if you are thin you will be safe. That’s the purpose of this walk, for us to be mindful to hear ailment.

More than 800 police personnel, including DGP S S Khandwawala and Police Commissioner S K Saikia, will participate in “Walk for Heart” at Kankaria. The walk, which will begin at 7 am on Sunday, aims to raise public awareness to reduce cardio-vascular diseases. The programme has been jointly organized by Apollo Hospital and the police department as part of World Heart Day.

Though the World Heart Day was observed on September 27 this year, this event was pushed back a week due to cops’ tight schedule during Navratri. Every year, the day is observed on the last Sunday of September.

Apart from mounted cops, 40 IPS officers, traffic police, lady police, school children, senior citizens and members of Kankaria Walkers Club will take part in the walk.

To cheer the walkers, two police bands will also participate in the event. The walk will culminate at the Maninagar football ground.

Heart disease has become a major health concern for police personnel due to work-related stress and walking is an effective way to prevent heart disease, say doctors.

On this occasion, eminent cardiologists will hold a lecture on heart disease and preventive measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. - AhmedabadMirror
