Good Morning Friends, Monday, September 01, 2008. I am reading newpaper and I read this news. Now a day’s student from ahmedabd can have opportunity to stundy in foreign university. More than 40 countries university have exchange programmes.
For the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch of 2009, over 90 students are going on exchange programmes to various countries like US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Singapore. The institute shares an exchange relationship with around 40 business schools across the globe.
"Most of the students are going for their fifth term. Three students who are going on for a dual degree programme, two to University of Bocconi and one to ESSEC Business School, Paris," said a student exchange council member, Siddhartha Priya.
The exchange is a two-way process and when students from IIM-A go to these universities, there are almost an equal number of students coming to the institute.
"Many students will come to our institute during the fifth term. They will be a part of the academic programme and have to choose from the subjects offered at IIM-A," said Priya.
Exchange programmes have even found their place in the newly-introduced diploma course of Public Management and Policy. There are around 15 participants from the PMP course. The participants are going to Public Policy College, Washington DC, George Town University and University of Geneva. Good Morning Friends, IIM-Ahmedabd is something we all take proud. They added something more which makes us feel proud. Two students from IIM-A are going to attend Women’s Forum Global Meeting in France. Read the complete news below.
Giving students an international experience is a conscious effort of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A). But students this year have gone a step further.
From just representing the country in the corporate world and academic institutes in the West, we now have, for the first time, two students as part of a delegation representing India at the Women's Forum Global Meeting to be held from October 16 to 18 at Deauville in France.
Siddhartha Priya and Kanika Khanna are among 20 students selected from across the world. "This is a great opportunity for us. We were selected on the basis of personal testimonial and country summary. Basically, we have to bring forth the role of technology and communication in shaping future of women in our country," said Priya.
They have discussed the scenario in urban India where BPO industry and advancing technology - like web conferencing - are being used to enable women to work from home. Community radio, which is helping rural women to a great extent, has also been discussed she added.
The duo has to interview three women - a management student, an aspiring businesswoman and a successful businesswoman by September 15.
Started in 2005, the meet is an international event of Women's Forum for the Economy and Society with around 1,200 delegates from over 70 countries participating. The forum promotes women's vision on current economic and social issues. This year's theme is 'Progress to share, future to dare'.

Guru Chemist is 24 hour medical retail store just opposite to Asia’s largest hospital Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

If you are in the Gir forests to watch the Asiatic lion, don’t be surprised to find women forest guards in the woods. It’s another male bastion which has been busted. Gujarat forest department has sought to break the sex barrier, by introducing for the first time a large number of women guards and foresters in the jungles.
Of the 307 forest guards recruited through special camps in districts over the last one year, 51 are women. And out of 180 foresters recruited at four zonal camps held this May in Surat, Junagadh, Vadodara and Gandhinagar as many as 44 are women.
Till these recruitments, there were just two women working in the forests and both were Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers. Anita Karn is posted in Junagadh and Aradhana Sahu in Mehsana.
Fourteen women foresters have been posted in Gir and their boss, Anita Karn, is happy to have them around. “They have been quite useful in gathering information, carrying out raids and talking to womenfolk in the forests,” she told TOI over phone.
Aradhana Sahu added: “Lady forest staffers are proving to be extremely useful in every sector, be it joint forest management, in which involvement of village women is critical, or guiding tourists in the wild and guarding wildlife.” Agentswebworld and agencyorganizer are also having more and more woman team members.
Forest officials in Gandhinagar say the women were recruited on the basis of their physical fitness and knowledge of neighbouring forest areas. Shivam Loves His Teddy Hanumanji
Today is Friday, August 29, 2008. My day start with morning walk at 5-00 am and I back at 6-00 am, when I back home my elder son Shivam Dhirendra Patel was playing. As it was early morning I ask him to come with me for walk and he join me. I take him with me for two round of walk with me. All the he was carrying his teddy Hannu (A teddy with image of Hanumanji ). He loves Shree Hanumanji too much, and he always carries this hannu with him. He let him dress, let him eat, let him play with him and also when he go to bed, he take it with him. He loves to carry hannu with him most of the time. I like to share his pics with his hannu.
Me also allow him to remain all the time with Hannu because Hannu is symbol of Positive Power, Symbol of Service to humanity , Symbol of Bhakti. Its very easy for me sometime to pass message to shivam by using his hunnu. I hope you all like this pics.

Dhirendra on Fasting Day -3
Today is August 27, 2008, Wednesday
Today is 3rd day of my fasting. I am on fast from Sunday evening 6-00 pm. Till this moment I just intake water only. I have reason to do fasting and I am going to share here with you all friends. Before I share my reason for fasting I like to let all know about fasting first.
Fasting is primarily the act of willingly abstaining from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. A fast may be total or partial concerning that from which one fasts, and may be prolonged or intermittent as to the period of fasting. Fasting practices may preclude sexual activity as well as food, in addition to refraining from eating certain types or groups of foods; for example, one might refrain from eating meat. A complete fast in its traditional definition is abstinence of all food and liquids except for water.
Fasting for religious and spiritual reasons has been a part of human custom since pre-history. It is mentioned in the Bible, in both the Old Testament (the Tanach) and New Testament, the Qur'an, the Mahabharata, and the Upanishads. Fasting is also practiced in many other religious traditions and spiritual practices.
Fasting is also used in a medical context to refer to the state achieved after digestion of a meal. A number of metabolic adjustments occur during fasting and many medical diagnostic tests are standardized for fasting conditions. For most medical purposes a person is assumed to be fasting after 8-12 hours. A diagnostic fast refers to prolonged fasting (from 8-72 hours depending on age) conducted under medical observation for investigation of a problem, usually hypoglycemia. Fasting has occasionally been recommended as a therapeutic intervention by physicians of many cultures, though it is uncommonly resorted to for this purpose by modern doctors.

Grand welcome for bronze heroes Vijender, Sushil
After their resounding success in the Beijing Olympics, India's bronze medallists duo of wrestler Sushil Kumar and boxer Vijender Singh returned home to a rapturous welcome from thousands of ecstatic fans at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here in the wee hours on Tuesday.
The new heroes of Indian sports, Sushil and Vijender, along with the rest of the Indian contingent touched down at the airport at 00:30 hrs. However, it was only after 00:55 hrs that the first glimpses of the contingent was seen.
Finally home after scripting history by winning as many as three medals including one gold and two bronze, the Indian contingent was received at the airport with love and affection by the wildly cheering fans.
Some hugged them, while others coaxed for autographs and even gave them a ride on their shoulders.
Hordes of supporters from Sushil's homeland in Bapraula village of Najafgarh and Vijender's native place in Bhiwani district of Haryana thronged the airport carrying drums and fire crackers.
A musical band continued beating drums and blowing trumpets and enthusiastic fans broke into dance as the whole ambience submerged into a celebration mood.
The tricolour fluttered in the air and so were the banners of Indian Boxing Federation and Indian Olympic Association. There were also specially made banners and placards to welcome the Olympic heroes, reading "East or West, Vijender is the best".
Fans also showered rose petals and offered bouquets to their Olympic heroes.
It was a historic welcome not only for the medal winners, but also for other two quarter-finalist boxers Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar who seemed to have moved by the reception.
"When I returned, the emigration officer asked me for an autograph, it was for the first time that something of this sort happened. I am delighted and overwhelmed at the response," said an emotional Akhil, who defeated World bantamweight champion Sergey Vodopyanov at the quadrennial event's pre-quarterfinals.
An ecstatic Sport Minister M S Gill, who received the contingent, said he was proud of the nation's best-ever performance at the Olympics.
"I am very proud of their achievements. They have made the country proud. This is just the beginning, and from here on we all must work harder to achieve greater results in future," Gill said, patting the two bronze medallists on their shoulders.
Many top officials of Sport Authority of India (SAI) were also present at the airport, including Director General of SAI Shyan Chatterjee.
A large posse of media persons and cameramen were also present to catch the first hand reaction of India's most successful Olympic team.
Such was the craze that Vijender was literally escorted out of the place without any intervention, however, Sushil was more than obliged to answer the media.
The wrestler, who won the bronze medal in the 66 kg freestyle event, said he was confident of winning a gold in 2012 London Olympics.
"I cannot explain how happy I am to see so many people turning up to receive me. This reception is motivational enough for me to work with renewed vigour to win gold in the forthcoming Asian and Commonwealth Games and in the London Olympics in 2012," a jubilant Suhil said.
Earlier, there was a small skirmish between the Delhi Police and Vijender's family, who were initially not allowed to enter the VIP enclosure.
Vijender's father Mahipal Singh Beniwal, uncle Ramesh Singh and brother Manoj Singh were barred from entering the enclosure as Delhi Police failed to recognise them, but later on they were allowed to enter the premises.
Officials of the IOA, including President Suresh Kalmadi, Secretary-General Randhir Singh also arrived by the same flight.

Double win for Dhaval: Tops CS exam after CA
Today is Augest 26, 2008. My day starts with prayer at Dadaji's house. Back home i was reading timesofindia and i find following news. It make me feel proud as Gujarati. A student name Dhaval topped in CA and CS exam. What one person can do with focuses goal?
Dhaval had topped the all-India Chartered Accountants exam in November, 2007. After having done his schooling in Gujarati medium, Dhaval has proved he is indeed a topper.
Chairperson of Ahmedabad chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Shilpi Thapar, said: "It is indeed good news, Dhaval has stood first in the CS exams in India."
His father is a matriculate and his mother is an 8th pass while his brothers are graduates. But, that has not stopped Dhaval from scaling the heights of academic brilliance.
He is among the rare few who have managed to complete CA and CS with top honours, simultaneously. And, his lucky number is 582. He had got 582 out of 800 in CA. In CS, he has scored 582 out of 900 marks.
"My schooling was in Gujarati medium, in college I shifted over to English medium. I am overjoyed that I could prove a point. This could not have been possible without the support of my family," said Dhaval.
He is no book worm though. Like any youth of today, he is fond of cricket and internet chatting. His father owns a cloth showroom in Ratanpol and they stay in the walled city - Gheekanta.
On August 11, he joined his maiden job. He is now in Mumbai working at a CA firm.
"I am proud of my son. We are from a small village in Banaskantha. God has been very kind to us and my son has worked extremely hard," said his father.

India's farewell to a brave soldier Colonel Thomas
Colonel Jojan Thomas, was buried with full state honours at St John's church in Bangalore on Monday. Colonel Thomas died during an encounter with militants in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir last Friday.

The body of the 43-year-old Colonel arrived here last night by an Indian Airlines flight from New Delhi, family sources said.
A native of Kerala, Col Jogan Joseph Thomas was commissioned on March 1986 from OTA, Chennai in 11 JAT regiment. Besides holding appointments as GSO-1 (Ops), 3 Corps and instructor FTM, ASC Centre and College Bangalore, he was also an experienced pilot. The Colonel was killed when he led a quick reaction team from 45 Rashtriya Rifles in the dense forest of Machhal Sector, near the Line of Control. His team shot down six militants. He is survived by wife Beena, daughter Meghana (18) who is training to be a pilot and son Philemon (11).
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday (August 25) offered floral tributes to Col Jojan Thomas who was among four military personnel killed in an encounter with terrorists at Kupwara last week. Yeddyurappa placed a wreath on the body. Ministers Shobha Karandlaje and Ramachandra Gowda accompanied the Chief Minister. Yeddyurappa also consoled the members of Thomas's family.
Being Indian Dhirendra Patel also offered his tribute to the Brave Soldier Colonel Thomas. I salute Colonel Thomas.

Dahi Handi (Human Towers) Celebrations in Maharashtra
Janmaashtami, popularly known here as Dahi Handi is celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. Various Handis (in this context, a Handi is a clay pot, suspended high above the ground, containing prizes) are set up locally in almost every nook and corner of the city, and groups of youngsters, called Govinda Pathaks (English: Troupes of Lord Krishna) travel around in trucks trying to break as many handis as possible during the day.
Many such Govinda Pathaks compete with each other, especially for the handis that dole out hefty rewards. The event, in recent times, has gathered a political flavor, and it is not uncommon for political parties, and rich community groups to offer prizes amounting to lakhs of rupees.

Rituals and Customs of Janmashtami
Janmashtami festival witnesses many interesting customs and rituals in various states and cities of India. While some rituals are common to all, others are unique and restricted to a particular region or city. These customs and rituals are followed religiously by all the Lord Krishna devotees year after year.
Rituals and Customs Observed during Janmashtami
Fasting: The most common ritual observed all over during Janmashtami is fasting by devotees on the day of the festival. Devotees fast for the entire day and break it after the birth of Lord Krishna at midnight. People prefer to have only milk and milk products as they were the favourite of Lord Krishna. Some devotees of Lord Krishna go to the extent of keeping 'Nirjal' fast- It involves fasting without having a single drop of water. There are other ardent followers , who keep the fast for two days in the honour of Lord Krishna.
Chanting:
Devotees indulge in continuous chanting all day long. They chant mantras and shlokas to please the lord. Religious atmosphere prevails everywhere. Devotees highlight his feats and his divine characteristics. Chanting of 108 names of Lord Krishna is another ritual that takes place in various temples. Chanting of names is accompanied by showering of flowers on the idol of Lord Krishna.
Devotional Songs and dances:
Another popular ritual is singing of songs (bhajans) in the praise of Lord Krishna. Bhajans are an important custom of the midnight celebration during the festival. Dances are also performed by devotees depicting the various events of Lord Krishna.
Staging of Plays or Dramas of Lord Krishna:
Plays depicting various events and accomplishments of Lord Krishna during his lifetime is another important custom during the festival. Both professional artists as well as amateurs stage plays at various places that are widely attended by devotees.
Preparation of Sweets
According to legend, Lord Krishna was very fond of milk and milk products like butter and buttermilk. He was also fond of Sweets like Kheer, Pedhas etc. Therefore devotees all over make sweets during the festival to please the Lord.
Rituals in South India during Janmashtami:
The houses in South India are beautifully decorated by women on Janmashtami. Various sweet meals are prepared and offered to the Lord. Butter, one of the favourite dishes of Lord Krishna is offered to please him in almost every house. The entire house right from the door to the temple is marked with the footprints of a child. Mixture of water and flour is used to make footprints. This custom creates a feeling of joy among the people as they feel Lord himself has blessed them by entering their homes. The day is marked with the ritual of chanting of the holy Bhagavatam, accompanied by singing of devotional songs and dances.
Ritual in Gujarat:
Gujarat witnesses a very peculiar as well as an interesting ritual by the womenfolk during Janmashtami. Women give up all the household chores like cooking and cleaning etc. to play cards. This is an age old tradition. Women doing mind placing bets during the card session. The exact history of this peculiar tradition during Janmashtami is unknown but according to sociologists, this custom may have begun as a pass-time for women in the joint family system. Fasting all day long, the women played cards to kill time as well as keep them awake the entire night. It is said that women eat cold food prepared two days in advance.

He was a great king loved by his subjects. He had two children, a son Kansa and a daughter Devki. Kansa was quite cruel by nature, his wickedness knew no bounds when he jailed his father and forcefully became the king of Mathura.
Love for sister Devki and Brother in law Vasudev
Though Kansa was hard hearted but he loved his sister immensely and married her off to Vasudev, one the high ranking officers in his army. However on the day of wedding, as a result of a heavenly prediction that Devki’s eighth child will be born to kill him, Kansa decided to kill his sister. On Vasudev's pleading, he put both of them in dungeons and let them live but with a promise that they will handover all their children to Kansa, only to be killed by him.
Birth of Balram
Kansa succeeded in killing all the six new born babies of Devki and Vasudev, however the seventh child was saved by divine intervention as the child was transferred from Devki’s womb to that of Rohini's, Vasudev's other wife. Thus Balram, the elder brother of Krishna was born but Kansa thought that Devki had a miscarriage.
Birth of Krishna
The birth of the eighth child of Devki, Lord Krishna was followed by a chain of dramatic events. Soon after the birth of the child, as if by a sheer miracle, all the soldiers guarding the couple fell asleep and the gates of the dungeon flew open themselves. Vasudev decided to smuggle the child safely in a basket to his friend Nand in Gokul. Since it was raining heavily, River Yamuna was all swollen and Vasudev feared that both he as well as his child will drown if he tried to cross it, however, as soon as the feet of the infant touched the river, the flow of water became normal and Vasudev was able to cross it easily. Sheshnag, the five headed serpent of Lord Vishnu protected the child with its fangs. Vasudev knew that his was not an ordinary child but a divine being. After handing his child, to his dear friend, Nand, Vasudev returned back safely with a girl child and no one got to know about it.

Morning Walk – Charging My Self with Positivity and Energy
Today is Saturday, August 23, 2008. Its off at work but I am here at my routine morning walk. I thought to take few pictures of the garden where I walk and share with all my blog readers.
Normally I start my walk in between 5-15 am to 5-30 am and finish my walking between 6-00 am to 6-15 am everyday except Thursday (as I need to go for prayer on every Thursday). I walk for 45 minutes. It’s having a walking track of 400 miters. On and Average I walk 4 round (each of 400 miters) in 15 minutes. All together 12-14 round a day!
While walking I hear Prayer and Bhajan in my IPod or Mobile headphone. Isn’t it excellent combination morning time with prayer…….I love it. It charge me for all my day and full me Energy and Positivity. As I walk in Garden the air is so pure and clean and the view of nature on its best at this time. 5-30 am to 6-00 am is timing when nights is going and day start. The sky is black when I start my walk and slowy and gradually black sky starts changing to day time, OH MY GOD its so lovely view!!! Try to view so day friends and than let me know.

Vijender loses in semis, wins bronze
Vijender could not be the alchemist and turn his bronze into gold but on Friday's semifinal defeat could not deny him the honour of being India's first Olympic medal winning boxer.
Cuban Emilio Correa Bayeaux simply outsmarted the Indian 8-5 to win the 75kg category semifinal in a comprehensive manner and the outcome meant Vijender had to be content with the bronze, which he was already assured of.
The Cuban negated Vijender's height and reach advantages by playing from a distance. He simply did not allow Vijender land a single blow in the first, third and fourth rounds.
Even two penalty points in the final round could not make any difference for the Cuban had tilted the game in his favour a long away.
Surprisingly, barring the second round, Vijender held himself back throughout the bout and mostly sprayed his punches.
Emilio, son of 1972 Munich Games gold medallist Emilio Correa Vaillant, was precise with his blows. He did not resort to wild arm swinging or uppercuts but relied mostly on straight punches, which paid him rich dividends.
Clearly the faster of the two, Emilio led 3-0 early in the second round and though a desperate Vijender managed to reduce the gap to 4-3 by the end of the round, the Cuban proved his superiority again in the lop-sided third round that virtually sealed the fate of the bout."
Once he went 3-0 ahead, a comeback was always difficult. I tried my best and reduced the gap in the second round but could not really pull it off," a dejected Vijender said after the bout.
"I'm very upset and want to say sorry to all for I could not win the bout. But I promise to come back in 2012 Olympics and beat this guy and win gold," Vijender added."I had prepared well for his right punches but his left proved equally strong and I often had no answer to that," Vijender said of his opponent, whose tactical superiority was evident as he hit the Indian before backpedaling fast.
Vijender could not score any point in the first and third rounds and even in the final phase, he got two penalty points after the Cuban had pushed him.
The Haryana lad was still happy to have won India's first boxing medal and said, "I believe, boxing will see better days in India. We made good progress in the sport and it showed here."
Coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu was not too unhappy either."
I'm happy that at least we finished with an Olympic medal, it was a breakthrough for us. For the first time, three Indian boxers reached the quarterfinals. We have shown what we are capable of and the whole world is now watching us," Sandhu added.

Krishna Janmashtami -1
Janmashtami 2008 is on August 24th, Sunday.
Janmashtami celebrates the birth of one of the most famous Gods of Hindu religion, Bhagwan Krishna, on the eighth day (Ashtami) in the month of Sravana or Savana. Lord Sri Krishna was born on the 'Rohini' nakshatram (star). It is generally celebrated in the month of August-September according to the Christian Calendar. Legend has it that Sri Krishna was born on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and atrocities of his maternal uncle, Kansa.
Position of Stars at the time of Birth
It was only on the eighth day of the second fortnight, in the month of Sravana when, the moon entered the house of Vrishabha in Rohini Nakshatra (star) that Lord appeared. According to Barhapatyamana, the month of Sravana corresponds to the month of Bhadrapada Krishnapaksha. Lord was born in the year of Visvavasu, appx. 5,227 years ago.
Celebrated for over Two Days
Janmashtami is celebrated for over two days as “Rohini” nakshatra and Ashtami may not fall on the same day. The first day known as Krishnashtami, as the birth of Bhagwan Krishna falls on the eighth day after Raksha Bandhan, which generally falls in the month of August. The second day is known as Kalashtami.
Welcome the Lord at Midnight
It is only at midnight between the first and the second day that birth of Sri Krishna took place. The actual festivities begin during midnight in this 48 hour period. The celebration reaches its peak at midnight, with the birth of Lord Krishna, with lot of hymns, arti taking place and blowing of the Conch (shankh), rocking the cradle of Lord. The idol of lord is bathed with Panchamrit (A mixture of milk, ghee, oil, honey and Gangajal). The Panchamrit is later distributed as Prasad to the devotees along with other sweets. While some Fast on the first day and break it at midnight for others the fasting continues for both days. The period coincides with rainy season.

Delhi gets Asia's longest runway
The New Delhi airport said on Thursday it planned to soon open Asia's longest runway after conducting a successful test take-off and landing.
Officials hope the runway will ease huge congestion at the country’s second busiest airline hub, an official said.
The 4.43-kilometre (2.7-mile) strip is "the longest in Asia," said the spokesman for the Delhi International Airport Ltd., beating Kuala Lumpur International Airport's 4.12-kilometre runway.
Officials carried out "a trial take-off and landing by an Air India aircraft without any passengers," airport official Arun Arora told AFP .
"The tests were successful. The date for starting commercial operations will be announced soon," Arora said.
The new runway will nearly double the airport's peak-hour capacity from 35-40 aircraft landings and take-offs to about 75. The two currently operational parallel runways handle nearly 700 flights a day.
"The hovering time- which has come down with measures like rapid exit taxi-ways that allow planes to move away from the runway faster, and reducing time between two flight take-offs- is still about 20 minutes," said another Delhi airport official who did not wished to be named.
"We hope the new runway will cut it down further," he said.
Other problems -- including cancellations or delays due to poor visibility in winter and water-logging in the monsoon -- will also be solved thanks to the new runway, officials said.
"The runway is equipped with a state-of-the art instrument landing system at both ends that will allow landing even when visibility is as low as 50 metres (yards)," Arora said.
New Delhi, host of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, is also sprucing up infrastructure to allow carriers like Emirates, British Airways and Air France to operate Airbus's flagship A380 on routes to the capital.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar wins 2nd medal for India, a bronze
While Indians were resting their medal hopes on the boxers and shooters, wrestler Sushil Kumar sprung a pleasant surprise by clinching the bronze in the 66kg freestyle event at the Beijing Olympics.
Grappler Sushil Kumar provided an unexpected boost to India's Olympic campaign by clinching bronze medal after beating Kazakhstan's Leonid Spiridonov in the repechage match of the men's freestyle wrestling 66kg class in Beijing on Wednesday.
Sushil also thwarted the challenge from American Doug Schwab and Belarrussian Albert Batyrov in the first two repechage rounds after losing his opening round bout earlier in the day. Down in the dumps after his opening round defeat, Sushil came up with an incredible show, beating Doug Schwab (USA), Albert Batyrov (Belarus) and finally the losing semifinalist Leonid Spiridonov (Kazakhstan) in the repechage rounds to earn his slice of history.
Sushil is only the second Indian wrestler to win the wrestling bronze after Kashabha Jadhav had returned with the medal in 1952 Helsinki Games.
This will be after 56 years that an Indian contingent will return with more than one Olympic medal as shooter Abhinav Bindra has won first-ever Games gold medal for the country earlier at the Beijing Games.Sushil had lost to far superior Ukrainian Andriy Stadnik in his first round bout.
